“I love snow. Everything’s magical when its snows, everything looks pretty. Flakes, flurries, swirls, crystals, whatever form it comes in I’ll take it. We go back snow and me. We have a beautiful history. Sleigh rides, ice skating, snowball fights. I’ll even take curling. Gah, I love curling!”
— Lorelei Gilmore
To say that I truly feel like a Gilmore girl when it snows would be an understatement. I love the snow, the way it covers everything like a blanket, and cozying up next to the windows to watch the snow fall. And I truly do LOVE curling — well watching it anyways. As a light photographer, it also makes me giddy the way it is a perfect light reflector (yes, I know these is so nerdy but I know there are other photographers out there that feel the same!). The sunrise light was just perfect for the first snowfall on the coast. If you know me at all, you know I am NOT a morning person, but I was perked up and ready to play by 7:30am (which is just crazyyyy for me). But most of all, I love the way that it makes everything look brand new and what better way to start the new year!
Since posting a few of these photos of Instagram, I have had so many people ask me how I took the ones of my husband, Mark and myself. Well, if you look close enough you will see in a lot of the photos a little tiny remote. All it takes, is a tripod, a remote, and a husband who is willing to nuzzle in the freezing cold snow. I also was able to take a ton of photos on my iphone (thank you to the iphone plus and portrait mode) with my Apple Watch connecting as a remote as well. I also love to edit my iphone photos and camera photos to be as cohesive as possible! I use both the Tap-Pic-Go app and the Instagram app to make this happen. Hopefully this helps for anyone else that wants their own photos in the snow right when it falls and is still beautifully untouched.
Although I know that the snow isn’t always as beautiful as it is when it first falls, it still brings me such joy. It must have something to do with growing up in Asheville and having amazing memories of snow days. I am a snow girl through and through and I am thankful for a pup that loves to play and eat and try and catch snow balls and a husband that braves the freezing temps and has patience letting me get all the photos in the snow. BTW I do have to give credit to my amazing husband for all of the photos of myself! So, I hope you enjoy seeing the photos of my little family enjoying the winter wonderland!

He’s basically a walking Patagonia ad.
…and this is how excited I get when there is snow!
What a stud!
Then we had a blast playing with the tripod remote.
But after all the fun, we all needed to warm up and a little nap — who doesn’t after playing outside in the snow?!
And no snow day could be complete without some yummy snow cream 🙂
It was such an amazing day and we spent the rest of our night looking out our windows at the winter wonderland.
